The Sting interceptor by Wild Hornets workshop first became known last fall, since then this anti-aircraft drone has been constantly improved

The Wild Hornets workshop, a well-known Ukrainian manufacturer of drones of various types, including anti-aircraft drones (or interceptors), in one of its posts revealed the effectiveness of one of its latest developments. The news concerns the Sting interceptor, designed to intercept and destroy Shahed/Geran-2 type strike drones, Gerbera simulator drones as well as other types of UAVs.

The Wild Hornets note that depending on how experienced the crew is, as well as the radar settings, the overall efficiency of the Sting interceptor can reach 60-90%.

For example, according to the information provided by the Wild Hornets, in eight out of 10 cases, only one Sting anti-aircraft drone is needed to shoot down a Shahed-type UAV. Defense Express notes that even using two or three drones per Shahed is a pretty good result.

"There have been situations when a pilot of one crew shot down more than army aviation in one night," the Wild Hornets note. It is claimed that only 10-15 seconds pass from the moment a target is detected to its destruction.

The Wild Hornets emphasize that as of today, Sting interceptors are faster than the Shahed or Gerbera UAVs - in particular, in August of this year it became known that the Sting was managed to be accelerated to a speed over 315 km/h. At the moment, Ukrainian developers are working on interceptor variants against jet drones, which should be much faster.

The video below shows the shooting down of one of the many Shahed drones that attack Ukrainian cities every night, using a Sting interceptor drone.

The company notes that the cost of Sting is a little over $2,000, which is much cheaper than anti-aircraft missiles, which are also used to counter Shaheds as well as other drones.

As Defense Express reported, Ukraine is building a multi-layered defense system, using interceptor drones to meet russia's evolving aerial threats so Ukrainian Forces can now down jet-engine Shahed drones.

We also wrote that the Poles are complaining that it is expensive to shoot down russian UAVs, so they are looking for alternatives, such as anti-aircraft drones and guns.
