Turkish defense company Aselsan unveiled a new system from its self-propelled air defense Korkut family at the DSEI exhibition in London.

According to NextGenDefense, the complex features a modular design so its combat module can be mounted on different types of wheeled armored vehicles; customers can choose the platform that best fits their needs. At the show the vehicle was displayed on an Ejder Yalçın 4×4 chassis.

Conceptually, the Korkut 100/25 SB is designed to fill the niche between small-arms weapons and expensive missiles in counter-drone roles, the outlet notes.

The system's main armament is a 25 mm automatic cannon that, importantly, can fire ATOM smart air-burst ammunition. These rounds are claimed to be effective against swarms of drones. A coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun serves as a secondary weapon.

The Korkut 100/25 SB's armament can engage targets at rates up to 600 rounds per minute and at ranges beyond 1 km. The system is equipped with an AESA radar, thermal cameras, laser rangefinders and a modern fire-control system; AI-based algorithms are integrated to improve and automate target detection and tracking. The combat module is capable of firing on the move.

Earlier Defense Express covered three Aselsan drone killers that are worth attention.
