Ukrainian specialists showcases an FPV drone reaching 264 km/h, a game-changer for aerial combat against russian UAVs and helicopters

The Wild Hornets workshop, known for producing drones, has released a video featuring one of their drones with an intriguing caption, “We continue to develop high-speed drones for interesting targets.”

The FPV drone accelerates from 160 km/h to 264 km/h within seconds on the video. Considering that standard FPV drones typically fly at speeds of 100-150 km/h, this performance is remarkable and could be considered a record for this type of weapon.

Given the recent success of FPV drones in targeting and destroying aerial targets, this enhancement is a logical progression, enabling operators to more effectively engage russian drones and other threats. It’s noteworthy that as early as the beginning of this summer, videos began circulating of Ukrainian forces actively using FPV drones against russian the Zala and Orlan reconnaissance UAVs.

The FPV drones have now become a cost-effective and efficient tool for neutralizing the eyes of russian forces, which is particularly valuable given the shortage of air defense missiles. Beyond reconnaissance UAVs, another intriguing target for these drones is russian helicopters, with attempts to strike them first recorded in 2023.

Recently, a footage emerged showing two instances where Ukrainian FPV drone operators successfully hit russian helicopters. Given the high cost of air defense missiles, FPV drones offer a viable alternative with several advantages. The faster these drones are, the more effective they become in hunting aerial targets.
