Ukrainian innovators from the Brave1 defense tech cluster have unveiled a new robotic system equipped with an AI-guided turret capable of autonomously detecting and destroying enemy drones. This development marks a significant step forward in Ukraine's evolving approach to countering the growing threat posed by russian UAVs.
Ground robots are already actively reshaping the battlefield, transporting supplies, evacuating the wounded, and laying mines. The addition of anti-drone capabilities expands their tactical role, turning them into mobile platforms that can also neutralize aerial threats in real time.

The new system is the result of collaboration between two Brave1 member companies: TerMIT, which develops robotic platforms, and the creators of the Khyzhak turret. The integration of the turret with AI enables autonomous target recognition and engagement, minimizing the need for direct human involvement during operations.
One of the key features of the robot is its remote control system, which allows operators to manage the platform from a safe distance. This significantly reduces the risk for Ukrainian soldiers, especially in high-threat or front-line zones where russian FPV and reconnaissance drones are constantly active.
The AI-powered Khyzhak turret uses sensors and machine learning algorithms to quickly differentiate between friendly and enemy UAVs. Once a threat is identified, the system can lock on and fire automatically, drastically improving response time compared to manual operators.
This innovation reflects a broader trend in Ukraine's defense sector: the rapid development of automated and unmanned systems tailored to the specific challenges of modern warfare. As drone warfare continues to evolve, such hybrid solutions offer a decisive edge in protecting frontline troops and infrastructure.
As Defense Express previously reported, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine is actively integrating artificial intelligence into its operational framework, according to General Lieutenant Kyrylo Budanov, head of the agency. In a recent statement, Kyrylo Budanov emphasized the transformative effect modern technologies are having on intelligence work amid ongoing full-scale war with russia.
