Terma A/S supplies avionics for Western fighter jets its systems are already on Ukraine's F-16s

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine held a meeting with representatives of the Danish company TERMA A/S aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the Air Force's aviation. The Ukrainian side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Defence for Aviation Development, Oleksandr Kozenko, and the Danish delegation by TERMA's CEO Henrietta Hallberg Thygesen.

In an official post, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine noted that the talks focused primarily on two key areas: first, the experience and prospects of equipping the existing fleet of the Air Force with TERMA A/S systems; and second, the improvement of aviation systems and means of detection, warning, and countermeasures using TERMA A/S solutions.

Among other things, Ukraine offered the Danish company cooperation on domestic projects in both military and civil aircraft manufacturing. TERMA A/S, for its part, reported the opening of a company representative office in Ukraine, "which demonstrates TERMA A/S’s serious intent to develop business in Ukraine," the Ministry of Defence emphasizes.

From the Defense Express perspective, it should first be recalled that when we talk about the Danish TERMA A/S, we primarily mean support for our multirole fighters such as the F-16, which are equipped with Danish aircraft self-protection systems to guard against air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles, namely PIDS+ and ECIPS+.

Although the Ministry's statement does not disclose details of the cooperation, TERMA A/S has previously stressed that in some cases they had to change the configuration of their systems to be slightly above (the previous standard) according to the Ukrainian side's requests.

It is quite likely that by cooperation and strengthening our aviation they mean precisely this aspect, where TERMA A/S will service and upgrade the systems installed on our F-16s based on results from their operation directly on the battlefield under difficult conditions.

However, of course, it is not excluded that the cooperation may go beyond the F-16, as hinted by the phrase about equipping the existing fleet of Air Force aircraft so it should not be ruled out that this refers to larger projects; one can cautiously assume it may also concern Soviet-era aircraft that are in service with our Air Force.

TERMA A/S has a range of avionics solutions these include self-protection and countermeasure systems, alternative mission equipment, 3D audio, and active noise cancellation.

For example, in the case of an electronic warfare management system, the company emphasizes that they "offer clients unified and single software for the entire fleet," and that this is a modular product, meaning individual configurations tailored to a client's needs are developed, tested, and delivered within 3–6 months.

A key element of the system is the ALQ-213 family of EW controllers, which unite separate subsystems into a single network, so the pilot thanks to a single interface can operate more effectively in complex, stressful situations.

Speaking of TERMA A/S, it is worth mentioning that earlier the Ukrainian company Odd Systems announced a strategic partnership with the Danish firm to create an inexpensive AI-based drone interceptor.
