Such vehicles are capable of not only effectively shell with 152mm fire, but also to quickly get out of the enemy's attack

ArmyInform dedicated the article to the Czech Dana self-propelled artillery gun of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These self-propelled guns reached Ukraine in April 2022, the number of delivered artillery guns was not disclosed.

For the material, artillerymen of the 110th mechanized brigade were interviewed. However, it is not specified which modification we are talking about: the "original" Dana ShKH vz. 77, or the newest Dana-M2. Therefore, we can only see in general what advantages the Czech Dana has over self-propelled artillery guns of Soviet production.

Ukraine’s soldiers emphasize that, unlike the Soviet self-propelled guns, inside the Czech Dana the workplace of each crewmember is isolated, so there is no shared room where all the crewmembers are uncomfortable to work.

The workplaces of the crewmembers are located in isolated cabins, the fighters communicate with each other by radio. Moreover, an automatic loader, which can work at any angle of elevation of the gun barrel, significantly simplifies the work for artillerymen. An electromechanical drive or a backup manual mechanism can be used to aim the gun.

The crewmembers say that they do not know the specific targets in advance, they fire only according to the specified coordinates. After entering the firing position, they use the compass to orientate in the given direction of work, and then start firing at invaders.

"As a rule, the first shot is aimed. Then we adjust and shoot for damage. We mainly destroy enemy columns, armored vehicles, fortifications, and manpower. As long as there are enemy targets, we will always have work to do. And we are ready to do it with 100 percent success", says the battery commander with the call sign Iskra.

The ammunition for the Dana self-propelled guns is up to 50 rounds. One of the most important advantages of this SPG is the ability to quickly leave the firing position to avoid being hit by the enemy. And here the wheeled chassis with high cross-country ability plays into the hands of its operators.
