In addition, russian tankmen realized in practice that a net made of ropes does not protect against anti-tank missiles

In the units of the russian invading forces, they continue to invent rather strange methods of artisanal armoring of tanks. If the attempt to improve the protection of the T-72B3 tanks with stones deserves attention for creativity, then with the T-90M Proryv tank, which is positioned by russia’s propaganda as the most protected, such efforts look like those that significantly compromise the position of this vehicle, which was actively promoted by the russians on the international arms market.

In particular, the video published by Btvt.info shows two such tanks on which certain improvements were made in the field. It should be noted that this video was shot back in the fall of 2023.

In this video, the attention is drawn to the fact that elements of the Kontakt explosive reactive armour (ERA) were additionally installed on top of the basic Relikt ERA on the upper frontal part of the tank tower.

Before this, it was already noticed that the T-90M is additionally equipped with Kontakt ERA, but for the purpose of protecting zones that are not covered by explosive reactive armour at all. But in this case, we are talking about the fact that elements of one ERA is installed exactly on top of another, which raises certain questions about how all this should work.

It is also worthy of some attention that the russian tankers learned that a net made of ropes and metal elements does little to protect against anti-tank missiles. We will remind that such protection of the space between the turret and the hull has become a classic for russian tanks and is installed on vehicles as part of the modernization of all tanks, including T-90, T-72 and T-80VBM. At the same time, Uralvagonzavod (a russian tank manufacturer) declares that these "metal elements compress the warhead [of a rocket-propelled grenade or ATGM] and prevent it from detonating."

In order to level the low efficiency of such a grid, in russian units they began to attach directly to this grid the same elements of the Kontakt ERA.

At the same time, it should be noted that both tanks presented in the video do not have standard protective "BBQ grill" above the turret, but there is additional protection of the stern in the form of a grate, which was fixed in the area of the motor-transmission compartment.
