Quantum Systems and Rohde & Schwarz are expanding cooperation to enhance German-made unmanned aerial and ground systems, including platforms already in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine

German companies Quantum Systems and Rohde & Schwarz announced a new cooperation agreement aimed at integrating electronic intelligence and protection solutions into unmanned aerial vehicles and ground robotic systems developed by Quantum Systems.

Under the agreement, Quantum Systems platforms will receive SIGINT (signals intelligence) payloads as well as electronic warfare-related protection and suppression capabilities, significantly increasing their flexibility in contested operational environments.

According to the companies, this marks the first initiative focused on integrating electronic intelligence capabilities directly into a German-made tactical UAV architecture.

In practical terms, the cooperation enables Quantum Systems UAVs to evolve into airborne electronic reconnaissance platforms capable of detecting and identifying enemy air defense and electronic warfare assets.

Given that Quantum Systems drones are already actively used by Ukrainian forces, the development is particularly relevant for expanding the capabilities of UAV systems currently deployed by Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

The companies have not disclosed which specific UAV or ground platforms will receive the new payloads. However, it is expected that the technology will be tested and refined under real operational conditions.

Another Ukrainian example is the Gekata system developed by Infozahyst and based on the PD-2 UAV from Ukrspecsystems. The system was first publicly presented at the Arms and Security exhibition in 2021.

As for ground robotic systems, this remains a relatively new direction for Quantum Systems. In February 2026, the company unveiled its first ground robotic platform, the Mabdrill.

Under the cooperation agreement with , the platform is expected to be equipped with electronic warfare suppression capabilities. The companies emphasized that the partnership is strongly influenced by operational lessons learned from the war in Ukraine.

Ukraine already fields comparable solutions in this domain. Last year, introduced the Kvertus AD Berserk ground robotic EW complex and announced the start of serial production.
