Ukrainian practice of using small first-person-view (FPV) drones to target military helicopters is becoming more prevalent. Following a successful strike on August 7th, a recent video has emerged showing another successful attack, this time on a Mi-8 transport helicopter of the russian forces.
The video was shared by Serhii Sternenko, a Ukrainian volunteer and manager of FPV drone crowdfunding campaigns.

As with the previous attack, the operation was carried out by the M2 unit of the Security Service of Ukraine. The FPV drone operators again targeted the tail of the helicopter, which was intercepted in the Kursk Region of russia.
Sternenko noted that the attack used a fragmentation warhead. While the precise outcome for the helicopter remains unclear, it was reported that the helicopter ceased operations in the area. He also admitted that there is room for improvement of this new FPV weapon.
Worth noting, recent reports from russian military bloggers have indicated several helicopter losses in the Kursk Region, although the exact cause of these casualties has not been specified.
Given that the FPV drone likely lacked automated guidance systems, the successful hit should be attributed to the skill of the drone operator.
With that, Ukrainian anti-aircraft FPVs have now scored two confirmed hits on russian helicopters, as well as numerous strikes on reconnaissance drones, one of them was able to catch the weapon on camera.
