The American division of the Belgian company FN, FN America, has published a video for the first time showing shooting from the 30mm MTL-30 (Multi-Purpose Tactical Launcher - 30mm). In addition, it was in this video that the MTL-30 was first shown with the MF30MD suppressor by Strategic Sciences installed.
It would be more accurate to call it a Multi-Function Muzzle Device, as it performs three functions at once: a flash hider, a suppressor, and a muzzle brake. All they are contained in one easy-to-install device This allows you to reduce the visibility when firing, and also makes it easier to aim for subsequent shots.

The possibility of such integration gives the MTL-30 a significant advantage over its rivals developed and manufactured by other companies. These were probably the first shots with the MTL-30 equipped with the MF30MD. In the video, you can see a sound meter next to it on a tripod to measure the volume of the shot.

Let us recall that the MTL-30 is being developed under the US Army's Precision Grenadier System (PGS) program, which is aimed at increasing the accuracy and lethality of its own grenadiers. In October 2025, it became known that FN America got a contract worth $ 2 million from the US Army to manufacture a prototype.
This happened despite the fact that in May of the same year, Barrett and MARS, which also participate in this program with their 30-mm high-precision SSRS grenade launcher, won the US Army's innovation competition - xTECH, beating FN America with the MTL-30, which was previously called the PGS-001.

The MTL-30 grenade launcher has a caliber of 30 mm. Ammunition is fed using magazines, like in conventional automatic rifles. Each magazine can contain 3 or 5 grenades.
A wide range of grenades can be used to fire from the MTL-30, including conventional grenades, thermobaric, armor-piercing and even grenades with a programmable detonation to destroy drones, as well as many others. The MTL-30 can be equipped with a Vortex Optics XM157 smart sight or similar, which has a built-in ballistic computer and laser rangefinder for maximum accuracy of fire.

However, in the published video we can see that during the firing tests a conventional optical sight was used. In general, it is designed for firing at a range of about 500 meters, although the maximum aiming range is likely much higher and could be up to 1000 meters.
