The FH70 howitzer has some distinctive features, which are about to be described by Defense Express

A video has appeared on the Internet showing the firing process of Ukraine’s gunners working with a towed FH70 155 mm howitzer.

The transfer of such howitzers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine became known at the end of May 2022. And this is in fact only the second video depicting the direct combat work of the FH70 being applied against the russian invaders.

The FH70 howitzers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have several distinctive features at once. The first is the country of actual origin. Formally, the manufacturer is Italy.

But there are reasons to believe that in fact these howitzers were transferred to Ukraine by Estonia, which at the end of 2021 had 24 copies of the FH70. However, it seems that it was Italy that supplied the components necessary to maintain combat capability.

Another feature is that the FH70 is the only howitzer in the world, which has an auxiliary engine. Therefore, the FH70 can be called both a self-propelled and a towed howitzer. The firing range of the FH70 can reach 24 km, the rate of fire is 6 shots per minute, there is also an option of firing a burst of 3 shots in 15-20 seconds.

And here is how the calculation of the FH70 howitzer works at all stages (deployment, preparation for a shot, the actual shots and withdrawing) we can see in this video:
