Ukrainian forces have successfully thwarted russian engineering attempt to breach a tank ditch using a single, well-placed FPV drone strike. According to a report from the 141st Separate Infantry Brigade, Ukrainian troops spotted russian MTU-20 bridge-layer vehicle as it attempted to construct a crossing over critical anti-tank obstacle.
The vehicle, likely a part of an engineering unit tasked with enabling armored movement across natural and manmade barriers, was engaged before it could complete its mission. One direct hit from an FPV drone completely destroyed the machinery and halted the operation.

Bridge-laying vehicles are essential tools in maneuver warfare, allowing tanks and other heavy equipment to bypass terrain obstacles like trenches, rivers, or tank ditches. The elimination of such a vehicle mid-operation demonstrates both the situational awareness and tactical precision of Ukrainian drone operators, who acted swiftly to eliminate a high-value target.
The destruction of the bridge-layer not only prevented potential russian armored incursion but also delivered a symbolic blow to the enemy’s mobility and engineering capability. Without bridge support, heavy units face significant limitations in advancing across complex terrain, which can delay offensives and create tactical bottlenecks.
“This is what real battlefield control looks like,” the 141st Brigade emphasized in their statement. The message underlines the growing confidence and efficiency of Ukrainian forces in detecting and neutralizing enemy engineering activity in real-time.
The use of FPV drones in such targeted missions continues to showcase their value not just in direct combat, but in strategic disruption. In this case, a single drone was able to neutralize a piece of equipment that could have enabled the movement of multiple tanks and vehicles across defensive lines.
As Defense Express previously reported, Ukrainian drone warfare continues to evolve with remarkable accuracy and tactical finesse. In a recent operation on the southern front, FPV drone pilots from the Asgard unit of the Nemesis 412th Regiment successfully destroyed camouflaged russian T-72 tank hidden in a forest strip. The strike showcased both the vulnerability of traditional armor and the precision of modern drone operators.
