The 68th Brigade destroyed one of russia's most feared thermobaric rocket launchers while it was moving

Ukrainian defenders continue to inflict painful losses on russian heavy weapons. This time, operators of the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade used drones to eliminate one of the enemy's most destructive multiple rocket launchers, the TOS-1A Solntsepyok system.

The strike took place while russian system was on the move, making the operation even more remarkable. Usually, such vehicles are heavily guarded and kept at a distance from the front line, but precise drone operators managed to identify and hit the target.

The TOS-1A system is one of the most dangerous weapons in russia's arsenal. Equipped with thermobaric rockets, it is designed to devastate enemy fortifications, urban areas, and concentrations of troops. Its psychological effect is often no less destructive than its firepower, which is why eliminating even one launcher is a significant victory.

The destruction of the Solntsepyok system also has operational consequences. Each unit is expensive, limited in number, and hard to replace quickly. For russia, losing such equipment means fewer opportunities to conduct large-scale assaults with heavy fire support.

This successful strike once again underlines the role of drones in modern warfare. Ukrainian brigades increasingly rely on UAVs not only for reconnaissance but also for direct, high-precision strikes against armored vehicles, artillery systems, and supply convoys.

As Defense Express previously reported, on the night of August 28, 2025, special operations units from the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine struck a high-value russian target in temporarily occupied Crimea, the 91N6E radar system, part of the S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile system.

The radar, which serves as the "eyes" of the S-400 system, plays a crucial role in detecting aerial threats and guiding missiles against aircraft, drones, and ballistic targets. Its destruction severely undermines the effectiveness of the system and leaves a critical gap in russia's air defense network over Crimea.
