Ukrainian logisticians talked about what they like about the German Rheinmetall MAN RMMV HX tactical military truck. Most likely, this equipment was provided as part of military aid from partner countries.
Troops from the 228th Logistics Battalion commend the vehicle for its endurance and reliable performance across Ukraine's rough roads and off-road terrain. Its 8x8 all-wheel-drive configuration and 540 hp, 12.4-liter engine are key to this capability.

The platform is used for the rapid delivery of vital cargo and the evacuation of military equipment for further repair and restoration. This is not surprising, as the vehicle has several variants, including trucks and tractors.
The RMMV HX family is actively used in many countries around the world, with over 20,000 units manufactured. In addition to Ukraine, they are operated by the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Hungary, Singapore, Denmark, and Germany itself.
It should be recalled that in January 2025, 568 trucks worth €330 million were ordered for the needs of the German military. This means that one vehicle cost an average of €580,000.
The price is one of the biggest obstacles to purchasing such trucks for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to limited financial resources. Due to the shutdown of the Ukrainian manufacturer AvtoKrAZ, various alternative options were explored even before the full-scale invasion, but all proved too expensive.

Another serious problem with the RMMV HX is its hoodless design. Although this simplifies maintenance and reduces costs, it unfortunately creates safety issues.
The short distance between the front bumper and crew compartment results in the absence of a front impact-absorbing zone. It also increases the risk of foreign objects or vehicle debris entering the cabin.

This issue was a key reason behind the U.S. Army reverting to hooded trucks, known for their superior passive safety. However, many other countries continue to choose hoodless designs.
Overall, RMMV HX vehicles remain a good logistical tool capable of transporting up to 16 tons or being part of a road train up to 60 tons. Although they are too expensive for Ukraine to purchase on a regular basis, military aid from partner countries is currently helping to address the issue.
These trucks also serve as chassis for the Patriot and Iris-T air defense systems. Among them were 4x4 variants, are also relevant for logistics.
