On the Lyman axis, Ukrainian forces are fighting an intense and increasingly decisive battle for control of the airspace, according to the Signum unit. The unit reports that this sector of the front line has effectively developed its own separate air war, one defined not by aircraft but by swarms of reconnaissance and strike drones.
Russian troops are conducting massive UAV operations, deploying reconnaissance platforms and loitering munitions to adjust artillery fire and hunt Ukrainian infantry across the tree lines and fortifications. These drones act as the eyes and claws of russia's frontline tactics, enabling rapid strikes and persistent surveillance.

But standing between these drones and Ukrainian troops are the pilots and operators of the Signum unit, a specialized unit focused on countering russia's growing unmanned threat.
"The Signum unit does not allow the enemy to see, hear, or act," the unit emphasized.
Within a short period, Ukraine's Signum operators destroyed an entire fleet of russian drones. Their kills include four long-range Zala reconnaissance UAVs, a crucial asset used by russian forces for deep observation and target acquisition.
The unit also downed three Orlan drones, russia's primary artillery-correcting platform and one of the most widely used UAVs in its military inventory. Eliminating these systems directly reduces the accuracy and lethality of russian fire missions along the Lyman sector.
Among the rarer targets neutralized were two drones of the Kniaz Veshchyi Oleh class, newly introduced and still uncommon UAVs in russia's arsenal. Their destruction indicates both increasing russian experimentation and Ukraine's ability to rapidly adapt to new threats.
The Signum operators also shot down one Lancet loitering munition, one of russia's most dangerous and widely publicized strike drones. Removing even a single Lancet drone can save critical equipment and personnel on the ground.
"This is what air control looks like – this is what a profession honed to mastery looks like," the unit concluded.
