Ukrainian special forces conducted offensive actions in Zaporizhzhia region, destroying russian assault groups and improving their tactical position

Ukrainian special forces from the Defense Intelligence have carried out a series of offensive actions near Stepnohirsk in Zaporizhzhia region, regaining key positions and improving their tactical posture on this section of the front. The operation was conducted under difficult logistical conditions and amid persistent russian attempts to hold ground through repeated infantry assaults.

According to official information, fighters from the Artan unit, operating within the Department of Active Actions and in coordination with other elements of Ukrainian forces, managed to restore control over strategically important positions. Their actions reportedly disrupted russian efforts to consolidate gains and stabilize their lines in the area.

During the mission, Ukrainian forces destroyed forward russian assault groups and struck concentrations of enemy personnel and equipment. Dozens of russian troops were reportedly killed, underscoring the intensity of close-range engagements in the sector. The fighting reflects a continued pattern of heavy russian reliance on massed infantry attacks to probe and pressure Ukrainian defenses.

A critical element of the operation involved cutting key russian logistical arteries by establishing fire control over supply routes. Targeted strikes on logistics hubs and communication nodes have, according to Ukrainian sources, significantly reduced russia's ability to conduct further assaults in this direction.

The commander of the Artan unit, Viktor Torkotiuk, call sign Titan, stated that the coordinated actions enabled the creation of a stable foothold for continued clearing operations within the settlement area. He emphasized that the broader objective remains preventing any russian breakthrough toward the outskirts of Zaporizhzhia.

The operation highlights the growing emphasis on integrated combat coordination. Assault groups reportedly operated with the support of heavy strike UAV teams, artillery units, and other fire support assets, creating a layered approach that combines maneuver with sustained firepower.

As Defense Express previously reported, russian S-300 surface-to-air missile system has been struck by a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle operated by the Kryla Kabana drone unit of Ukraine's 17th Special Purpose Center. The successful engagement underscores Ukraine's continued focus on dismantling russian air defense assets through small unmanned aviation.
