Ukrainian border guard units continue to play an active combat role on the Southern Slobozhansk axis, conducting precision drone strikes against russian military assets. Fighters from the Strix UAV strike unit of the 4th Detachment damaged two russian tanks and destroyed multiple supporting systems.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine released video footage of the strikes on January 13, confirming the successful engagement of enemy targets. The attacks were carried out using FPV drones following target detection by aerial reconnaissance platforms.

Among the destroyed assets was the Murom-M surveillance unit, russian system used for battlefield observation and situational awareness. The loss of such equipment degrades the enemy's ability to monitor Ukrainian movements and coordinate actions along the front line.

In addition to the surveillance system, Ukrainian operators destroyed two communication antennas, further disrupting russian command-and-control capabilities in the area. Severing these links complicates coordination between units and limits the effectiveness of armored and infantry operations.

The strikes also resulted in damage to two russian tanks, reducing the enemy's available armored firepower on this sector of the front. While not confirmed as total losses, even damaged armored vehicles require time, resources, and safe logistics routes to be repaired or evacuated.

An accompanying vehicle transporting russian personnel was also destroyed, adding to enemy manpower losses and underscoring the vulnerability of support elements to drone attacks. Such targets are increasingly prioritized as part of a broader effort to erode operational sustainability rather than focusing solely on frontline combat units.

As Defense Express previously reported, Ukrainian unit operating deep behind enemy lines has successfully destroyed russian Osa short-range surface-to-air missile system, underscoring the growing effectiveness of drone warfare against high-value air defense assets. The strike was carried out by the Skifski hryfony unit and publicly confirmed via its official communication channels.
