Rheinmetall has completed the latest delivery of 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reinforcing Ukraine’s defense against ongoing russian aggression. This shipment, finalized at the end of the third quarter of 2024, brings the total of Rheinmetall-delivered combat vehicles to Ukraine, either directly or through ring exchanges, to approximately 200 units. Among these, a substantial number are the Marder 1A3 IFVs, which come equipped with advanced laser rangefinders for precise target acquisition.
The German government financed this most recent batch, valued in the mid double-digit million-euro range, with the contract recorded in March 2024. Rheinmetall initially began refurbishing the Marder 1A3 IFVs from Bundeswehr stocks in early 2022. This refurbishment, carried out at the company’s facilities in Unterlüß and Kassel, ensures that these vehicles are battle-ready for immediate deployment.
