Ukrainian drone operators have destroyed russian TOS-1A Solntsepyok system and its transport-loading vehicle, dealing a significant blow to Moscow's frontline firepower

Ukrainian forces have destroyed a rare and powerful russian heavy flamethrower system near Bohdanivske, delivering another blow to Moscow's frontline firepower. According to footage released by the 16th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, drone operators identified and struck the TOS-1A Solntsepyok system along with its accompanying transport-loading vehicle based on a T-72 chassis.

The TOS-1A is one of russia's most destructive battlefield systems, designed to launch thermobaric rockets capable of devastating fortified positions and urban areas. Its deployment typically signals preparations for intense assaults, as the system is intended to break defensive lines through overwhelming blast effects. The destruction of such an asset is therefore both tactically and symbolically significant.

Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance reportedly detected the target in the Bohdanivske area. Coordinated strikes were then carried out by kamikaze drones operated by border guard units and the Crazy Cats group. The precision hits seriously damaged the heavy flamethrower system and its support vehicle, effectively neutralizing the threat before it could be brought to bear against Ukrainian positions.

The elimination of the transport-loading vehicle is particularly important. Without it, TOS-1A system's ability to reload and sustain fire missions is severely constrained. Targeting both the launcher and its logistical support reflects a deliberate effort to dismantle not just individual platforms, but the operational capacity behind them.

Additional Ukrainian drone activity was reported across the same sector. Near Kamianka, two russian servicemen were killed by precise drone-dropped munitions in a tree line. In the vicinity of Pavlivka, the UAZ Bukhanka vehicle carrying russian personnel was destroyed, and another enemy vehicle was set ablaze in follow-up strikes.

As Defense Express previously reported, on the night of February 22, 2026, Ukrainian unmanned systems units carried out a coordinated strike targeting russian air defense assets and logistical infrastructure in temporarily occupied territories of the east of Ukraine.

According to the report, two Tor surface-to-air missile systems were disabled in separate operations near Donetsk and Mariupol, while a fuel depot in Luhansk was also struck.
