Ukraine considers the formation of the Cyber Forces as an independent branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This development was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, highlighting a significant step in bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities in cyberspace.
During the meeting, chaired by Lieutenant General Anatolii Barhylevych, Chief of the General Staff, military officials, members of the Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, and cybersecurity experts reviewed the draft concept for creating these specialized forces. The discussions emphasized the importance of learning from the experiences of other countries that have already established the Cyber Forces, adapting their models to Ukraine’s specific needs.

The meeting also focused on Ukraine’s cyber operations during the ongoing war with russia, assessing the lessons learned from defending against cyberattacks during the full-scale invasion. As a result, the participants outlined the key tasks and functions for the Cyber Forces, aiming to integrate their responsibilities within the broader defense and security sector.
