Footage shared online showed the aftermath of the attack, with a large fire breaking out at the site.
The governor of Volgograd region, Andrey Bocharov, confirmed the drone strike. According to him, air defense units of the russian Ministry of Defense allegedly shot down the UAVs, and the fire was caused by "falling debris" from the intercepted drones.
"As a result of the debris falling, power supply to the railway’s overhead lines in the Oktyabrsky district was disrupted," Bocharov stated.
As of the time of publication, no casualties had been reported.
According to OSINT analysts, the Volgograd region is home to key railway routes that are vital for russian military logistics. The railways are used to transport personnel and military equipment to the front lines.
