Explosions were reported across russia overnight into Sunday, May 17, following a drone attack. According to Serhii Sternenko, an advisor to Ukraine's Minister of Defense, the Moscow region came under its largest attack since the start of the war.
"The Moscow region has been hit by the largest-scale attack since the start of the war. But there will be even bigger ones to come, and Moscow itself will also be targeted. Everything in its own time," Sternenko wrote.

The russian Ministry of Defense reported an attack allegedly carried out by 586 Ukrainian drones, about 130 of which were heading toward Moscow.
According to OSINT analysts from the ASTRA Telegram channel, one of the fires broke out on the grounds of the Elma Technopark. The park hosts companies involved in electronics, optics, information technology, and scientific research. It comprises more than 150 companies and occupies a large area in Zelenograd, Moscow region.
According to Exilenova+, the Angstrom JSC may also have been targeted. It is one of russia's oldest microchip and semiconductor manufacturers, and its products are used in the russian military industry.
In addition, drones attacked the Solnechnogorsk oil products loading station in the Moscow region. Operations were also temporarily suspended at Sheremetyevo Airport, where eyewitnesses reported a fire and thick smoke near the runway.
