The 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine is effectively employing the M109L 155 mm self-propelled artillery units in its operations, demonstrating tactical precision and adaptability on the battlefield. The M109L, a reliable and mobile artillery system, plays a vital role in providing the brigade with long-range fire support, helping to neutralize enemy positions and assets.
Two primary types of ammunition are in use: the M107 high-explosive shells of Indian origin and the M483A1 cluster shells. The M107 shells are employed for direct impact, designed to deliver high-damage blasts on target positions, useful for breaking through fortifications or disrupting enemy lines.

The M483A1 cluster shells, however, offer enhanced effectiveness in dispersing submunitions over a wide area. Equipped with the M762/762A1 electronic time fuzes, these shells can detonate above the surface, maximizing the dispersion of submunitions for greater area impact. This method is particularly effective for neutralizing groups of vehicles or infantry.
