Satellite Images Reveal Over 60 Aircraft at russian Airfields in Engels, Yeysk and Morozovsk Prior to UAV Attack

During the night of April 4-5, Ukrainian UAVs carried out an attack on russian airfields. It is worth noting that Engels Airport is located 700 km away from the borders of Ukraine, Morozovsk Airport is situated 300 km from the borders, and Yeysk Airport, located 150 km away from the borders of Ukraine

As a result of the attack, a total of 19 aircraft were damaged, including 3 Tu-95MS strategic bombers. It is these aircraft that launch the Kh-101 and Kh-555 cruise missiles towards Ukraine. In Yeysk, 2 Su-25 aircraft were damaged.

Satellite photos reveal that there were over 60 aircraft stationed at the russian airfields of Engels, Yeysk, and Morozovsk prior to the UAV attack on the night of April 4-5.

According to the Planet Labs image of Engels airfield dated April 4, available to Schemes, there were at least eight strategic bombers present: three Tu-160s and five Tu-95s. The satellite also recorded one Il-76 and one Tu-22.

At the military airfield in Yeysk on the eve of the UAV attack, there were approximately 30 aircraft: ten L-39 combat training aircraft, five An-26 transport aircraft, one each of An-74 and An-12, four Su-27 fighters, four Su-25s, one Su-30, as well as Ka-27 helicopters, one Mi-8, and two Tu-134UBL training aircraft.

At the airfield in Morozovsk, according to the Planet Labs image, as of April 4, there were 29 fighter jets of various types, most of which were Su-34s.

As a reminder, the russian Defense Ministry announced the alleged downing of 53 Ukrainian drones in five regions, claiming that all UAVs were intercepted by air defense systems. The report detailed specific areas where interception took place, such as Saratov, Kursk and Belgorod regions, each experiencing one interception, while Krasnodar region saw six UAVs intercepted. Notably, the highest number of interceptions, allegedly 44 UAVs, occurred over Rostov region.

It should be noted that the drone attack on the airfield in Morozovsk was a joint operation involving the Security Service of Ukraine, military personnel, and the Defense Forces. According to estimates, 6 russian bombers were destroyed, while another eight suffered significant damage.
