The active promotion of the Su-57 multirole fighter to India continues, so this time russian specialists has assessed the capabilities of Indian industry to deploy the promised localization of production of this aircraft in the country

russians assessed Indian industry and concluded that it has 50% of what is needed for joint production of Su-57 fighters. This is a rather serious step both in terms of the country's capabilities as well as the active promotion of the purchase agreement.

According to Indian defense news, russian engineers inspected the production facilities of the Indian aerospace company HAL, which is known for manufacturing the problematic Tejas. The russians inspected three large enterprises.

The first was the plant in Nashik, which is currently engaged in licensed production of the Su-30MKI multirole fighter. This plant received a fairly high assessment regarding the possibility of producing Su-57 fuselages at its facilities with the need for just minor improvements.

Factories in Odisha, which produces AL-31FP engines for the Su-30MKI, and in Kasaragod, Kerala, where various electronics for aircraft including airborne computer systems are manufactured, were inspected too. There are no comments on the condition of these factories - in view of this, it can be assumed that, most likely, these factories may need significant modernization.

The russians emphasized that India needs modernization in a number of areas. This includes the development of dedicated facilities for low-observable composite fabrication, the establishment of secure coding environments for fifth-generation avionics software systems, the creation of sophisticated sensor fusion laboratories, and the development of multi-band active electronically scanned array radar calibration capabilities.

In parallel, the Indian HAL is assessing its own capabilities to determine the scope of the necessary work on modernization and expansion of production facilities. The resulting report will then be submitted to the Ministry of Defense of India.

From Defense Express we add that this is one of the steps for the russians to promote the Su-57E to India, which is looking for a 5th-generation fighter. This could be a serious problem for russia's neighbors, as it would allow it to obtain additional funds for the development of the aircraft, which, frankly, does not reach the level of a 5th generation fighter jet.

An important condition is the readiness of the russian federation to fully transfer the technology, which will then be used to develop Indian projects. However, despite all the talk, no agreement has yet been finalized between russia and India, and at the same time, criticism is periodically heard - so there is still a chance that the purchase will not take place.

As Defense Express reported, russia wanted to drag India into Su-57 project and counted how much money it will take.
