russian T-72B3 tank operating near Lyman was wiped out by Ukrainian FPV drone, proving that no amount of junk armor can stop modern precision attacks

On the Lyman axis, russian T-72B3 tank met a fiery end despite being heavily reinforced with improvised armor and scrap metal. The tank, which had been repeatedly emerging from a concealed firing position to shell Ukrainian defenses, was destroyed in a coordinated Ukrainian drone strike.

The operation was carried out by drone pilots of the SIGNUM unit from Ukraine’s 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. According to the unit, reconnaissance data about the tank’s movements was shared by comrades from the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade. The vehicle had become a familiar threat, regularly opening fire from its camouflaged spot.

Once the target's location was confirmed, Ukrainian forces acted swiftly. Two key objects were selected for the strike: the tank itself and a nearby ammunition storage area. Despite being draped in layers of dynamic protection and makeshift shielding, a common russian attempt to defend against FPV drones, the tank stood no chance against a precision loitering munition.

The strike was direct. A cumulative charge pierced the armor, followed by a massive explosion. The detonation of the tank’s ammunition appeared to trigger a secondary blast in the adjacent ammo depot, engulfing the entire position in fire and smoke.

”Was the tank completely destroyed? Without a doubt. The detonation echoed for a long time. It won’t be rolling anywhere again,” the SIGNUM fighters said.

This incident underscores both the vulnerability of russian armored vehicles to modern drone warfare and the growing effectiveness of Ukrainian reconnaissance and strike coordination on the battlefield.
