The russian federation is looking for more tanks to deploy in the Ukrainian frontlines

Invasion forces of the russian army are now actively using export variants of T-90S tanks. Photo evidence has started appearing since the beginning of the year 2023, and now we have images of the third sample lost this way.

The first and the second ones were destroyed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine: one had its gun torn apart and the other had its turret blown up. The third one apparently was taken as a trophy and soon enough could be seen fighting against former owners on the Ukrainian side.

As a quick reminder, the T-90S is an export version of the russian T-90A and compared to the original, it has no "Shtora-1" active protection system, but has an additional ERA module, a 902 "Tucha" smoke screen launcher, and air conditioning.

By the way, T-90S tanks of the "Indian" export variant were also spotted in Ukraine back in October last year, however, there was no clarity whether those could have been just T-90A taken from storage in temporarily occupied Crimea.

Anyway, the loss of these T-90 tanks is just another proof of how severe are the losses among armored equipment that the russian forces are suffering in their 11th month of all-out war. According to Ukraine's army General Staff, the invaders have already lost 3,094 tanks of all types since February 2022.
