The order on attacking Ukrainian cities with cruise missiles was issued about 06:00 Kyiv Time on October 10 morning, and russian strategic aircraft was put in air to launch strikes from multiple directions, Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
As of 11:40, russians had launched 80 cruise missiles: Kh-101 and Kh-555 missiles from Tu-95 and Yu-160 bombers approaching from the Caspian Sea, and Kalibr missiles from the warships in the Black Sea, and also Shahed-136 loitering munitions. Three cruise missiles crossed Moldova's airspace, russian ambassador was summoned for an explanation.

45 out of these 80 missiles and 9 out of 12 Shahed-136 were shot down by Ukraine’s air defense. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the rest of the missiles managed to hit objects of critical infrastructure, mostly power-producing facilities, in 8 administrative regions of Ukraine, causing 30 fires.

"They want panic and chaos, they want to destroy our energy system. They are incorrigible," said the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commenting on the morning attack.
Overall the russian attack struck 14 regions and the city of Kyiv, says the National Police. Civilian infrastructure got hit as well: a library and university in the center of Kyiv and several museums. There are problems with power supply and telecom in Lviv and Kharkiv regions.
The aggressive actions of the russian federation directed against civilian population of Ukraine received immediate negative response from a number of officials from various, including Finland, Poland, the EU, the U.S. and Romania which almost got its embassy in Kyiv hit by a missile. On President Zelensky's appeal, the G7 Group will have an urgent meeting to discuss the joint response to russian actions.
