Gereon RCS will provide its third reinforcement to the Ukrainian Armed Forces under this new contract

ARX Robotics has secured a new contract to supply Gereon RCS unmanned ground vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This will be the third expansion of the Ukrainian military's fleet of these robotic systems. Overall, Ukraine has already received more than three dozen of these systems.

It is also known that the company has relocated part of its production to Ukraine. Local suppliers are involved, which speeds up deliveries and strengthens Ukrainian industry.

CEO of ARX Ukraine Igor Kornilov told Defense Express about this. ARX Robotics is one of Europe's leading developers in defense technologies, creating the Gereon RCS series of ground robotic platforms and Mithra OS — an operating system with AI elements that integrates autonomous and legacy platforms. Gereon systems have been operating in Ukraine since the beginning of the year. These German UGVs are used for logistics, evacuation, and other tasks.

Against the backdrop of signing a new contract, Igor Kornilov said that "production at our Ukrainian plant and cooperation with local partners accelerate integration into the army and ensure stability in our work. We are developing capabilities and competencies in Ukraine that will remain valuable even after the contract is fulfilled."

Kornilov also emphasized that "ARX Ukraine is modernizing German platforms based on feedback we receive from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. First of all, this concerns communication systems, as well as other improvements, because the technical solutions that were relevant yesterday or even today become ineffective in a few months. We are currently developing a local team that is engaged in R&D modernization in collaboration with the German head office."

Ukrainian developments are also being integrated into our platforms. In particular, the Burya turret with a grenade launcher manufactured by Frontline as well as the Shablia turret have already been integrated. "We are continuing to integrate some software products used by the Armed Forces in order to facilitate the use of our UGVs in combat conditions," Kornilov stated.

Gereon RCS UGVs are also used by the German Armed Forces. For all parties involved, it is essential that the robots used in Ukraine are modernized to meet the demands of the modern battlefield.

Regarding feedback on the performance of ARX Robotics' UGVs in combat conditions, Igor Kornilov noted that Ukrainian military personnel primarily highlight the Gereon systems' high mobility and effectiveness even under conditions of electronic warfare.

"We underwent military trials, where our UGVs overcame all obstacles and confirmed the declared technical characteristics in electronic warfare conditions. In addition, during the trials, the military noted that Gereon is the first UGV in Ukraine to implement autonomous control functions," said Igor Kornilov.

Regarding the cost of Gereon robotic platforms, Kornilov emphasized that it appears to be higher compared to Ukrainian developments, but "... our UGV uses exclusively Western components, which is strategically important in the medium and long term. As you know, if China imposes an embargo on the supply of certain components currently used in Ukrainian equipment, this will significantly complicate the replacement of hardware in existing products. We are currently working with Ukrainian contractors to expand localization. This involves the supply of electrical components and housing structures in order to reduce the cost of products during maintenance."
