Denmark will train Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 fighters only until the end of 2024, according to The Local Denmark. By the conclusion of this program, around 20 Ukrainian pilots will have completed their F-16 training.
The decision stems from Denmark’s upcoming transition from the F-16 aircraft to more modern F-35 fighters next year. The Skrydstrup air base, currently used for training Ukrainian pilots, will facilitate this transition. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen announced this on Monday, June 24, during a joint press conference with Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram.
