The Varta-2 armored vehicle from Ukrainian Armor, a part of NAUDI, underwent combat testing in the 12th Special Forces Brigade Azov. This provides an opportunity to assess its field use and current configuration.

In a video published by the brigade's press service, a soldier from the 6th battalion with a call sign Prut gives a brief overview of the vehicle. He says it can perform transportation and evacuation tasks and withstand an FPV drone strike.

The soldier described the characteristics of the Varta-2, highlighting its 6.7-liter engine and six-speed transmission. He also mentioned the armored capsule, which can accommodate six paratroopers in the rear, two more in the cabin, and space for two crew members.

The serviceman also highlighted additional armor, which significantly increases protection. For example, Prut recalled an incident in which an FPV drone struck the vehicle, causing damage only to the window.

From Defense Express we would like to note that the anti-drone mesh, now commonly used to equip armored vehicles on the battlefield, is also installed on Novator vehicles. It is unclear whether this kit is factory-made or a modification implemented by the military.

Although the Varta-2 is often displayed with the Sich remote weapon station and its 30-mm automatic cannon, the model delivered to the Azov Brigade lacks this feature. This results in a minimal configuration without a machine gunner position. At the same time, electronic warfare equipment is located on the roof.

This contributes to a combat weight that the military estimates at 14 tons, assuming the vehicle has no heavy turret. This difference could create an advantage in terms of cross-country mobility, but it is not known what configuration will be ordered.

According to the Azov Brigade, the vehicle demonstrates all the necessary qualities to conduct combat operations in any terrain, even under intense enemy drone threats. Therefore, the experience of using the vehicle has been positive, which could pave the way for potential contracts.
