Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Malyar announced this on Telegram.
"The CV90 infantry fighting vehicle is called the best IFV in the world. Designed and manufactured in Sweden, it has everything that a modern combat vehicle should have, and its main advantage is taking care of the crew (three people) and troopers (up to eight people), because such protection as the CV90 does not exist in any other IFV," said Hanna Malyar.

Strong reinforced multi-layered armor made of rolled steel sheets is required to keep the people inside the CV90 safe. Composite materials will be added on top, and hinged armor modules can be installed as the third layer.
Such a combination of materials will protect the crew and troopers not only from bullets and shrapnel, but also from detonation on mines, artillery fire and even from drone attacks.
CV90 IFVs arrived in Ukraine in the summer of 2023 and are already performing combat tasks at the front. For the first time, these IFVs were seen in the Lyman direction, where the enemy has been trying to break through the defenses for several months.
"In one of the battles, the Swedish IFV was covering infantry units from tank fire, and at that moment it was hit by a russian Lancet kamikaze drone. However, neither the crew nor the troopers inside were injured - they transferred to another vehicle and continued to perform combat tasks." - Malyar said.
"If there was a Soviet-made BMP-1 or BMP-2 IFVs instead of the CV90, no one would have survived, because the armor on these vehicles is practically absent," she added.
The Swedish vehicle received effective anti-tank weapons and a powerful automatic 40-millimeter cannon, which is capable of firing at a distance of up to 3 kilometers, the maximum firing range is more than 12 kilometers.
In addition, the CV90 IFV uses a revolutionary chassis with Formula 1 technologies, where the suspension adapts itself to the surface. This solution provides extremely high passability, and rubber inserts in the tracks significantly reduce the noise level during movement.
Ukrainian defenders point out that 200 meters away, the Swedish BMP cannot even be heard.
"Soon, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive many more such vehicles, because Ukraine and Sweden have agreed on the joint production of the CV90. And the nearest goal is 1,000 Swedish IFVs for the Ukrainian army," the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine emphasized.
The Combat Vehicle 90 or CV90 (Swedish: stridsfordon 90, strf 90) is a family of Swedish tracked armored combat vehicles prodused by BAE Systems AB, subsidiary holding company for the Swedish assets of BAE Systems Land & Armaments, whose ultimate parent is the British defense contractor BAE Systems.
BAE Systems is one of the most powerful defense conglomerates in general and the 7th largest defense company in the world by revenue with a figure of 26.3 billion dollars for 2022. The company has divisions in 40 countries and has a staff of 93 thousand people.
