Argentina and Egypt are interested in buying India’s Tejas multi-role aircraft. Egypt expresses a desire for 15 such aircraft, Argentina for 20 units, as states the head of the Indian state corporation Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, according to the results of the Aero India 2023 exhibition.
A delegation from the Argentinian Air Force has already arrived to study the Tejas, and a contract is expected "in the near future." As for Egypt, before agreeing on a contract, the country wants to first agree on the maintenance of the Tejas at the capacities of its own defense industry, as Defense24 reports, siting The Hindu.

As the article emphasizes, India is purposefully promoting its Tejas to the world market precisely as a replacement for the Soviet or russian MiG-29. In the case of Argentina, it is worth noting that before the prospect of buying Indian combat aircraft arose, this country rejected the option of buying russian MiG-35s for various reasons.

However, to fair, Defense Express notes that the prospects of the Indian Tejas don’t look sertain. At least because the first serial aircraft of this type will get the Indian Air Force as a manufacturing country only in 2024.

As Defense24 writes, the Indian Tejas is also designed for some types of russian-made aviation weapons. Namely, the GSh-23 aviation cannon, the R-73 air-to-air missiles, the Kh-35 and Kh-59 air-to-surface missiles. However, it seems that it is not the most critical circumstance that will affect the pace of Indian Tejas exports.
