Ukrainian special operations forces continue to systematically dismantle russias air defense network, inflicting significant losses on russian forces in Luhansk region. On Sunday, September 7, the Omega Special Purpose Center released footage of a successful strike against key enemy assets. The operation was carried out jointly by intelligence officers of the Defense Intelligence and fighters from the Omega Center.
Ukrainian forces destroyed three critical elements of russia's air defense. The targets included the 9S18 Kupol target acquisition radar, Buk surface-to-air missile system, and 9K37 launcher-loader vehicle. Each of these assets played a vital role in maintaining russia's layered air defense shield.

The elimination of the 9S18 Kupol radar is particularly significant. This radar provides target detection and tracking capabilities, serving as the eyes of the Buk system. Without it, the efficiency of the missile system is drastically reduced, as it loses the ability to detect and engage aerial threats effectively.
Striking both the Buk system and its supporting launcher-loader further degrades russia's ability to sustain operations and reload missiles in combat. This not only weakens the enemy's immediate defenses but also complicates their capacity to protect critical positions against future Ukrainian air and drone strikes.
Such operations deliver strategic impact far beyond the immediate destruction of equipment. By systematically removing russian air defense assets, Ukrainian forces expand the freedom of action for their own drones, artillery, and potentially aircraft in contested sectors of the front.
As Defense Express previously reported, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine carried out another masterful operation in the Black Sea, demonstrating the growing reach and effectiveness of Ukraine's special operations forces. Exclusive footage shows combat divers and special units at sea engaging russian targets with precision drone strikes.
The operation was conducted by the Active Operations Department, a specialized branch tasked with offensive raids and sabotage missions. Ukrainian commandos used FPV drones and other combat UAVs to target a variety of russian military equipment deployed in temporarily occupied areas of the Black Sea.
