Belarus is on the verge of getting nuclear weapons after assuring the UN that it will not return to nuclear status

The Kremlin continues to play the only trump card left in its hands – nuclear weapons – brandishes them actively and even lets his especially loyal dictators get a taste of nuclear capability. As the unrecognized president of Belarus Lukashenko officially stated, Belarusian planes are now modified to carry nuclear weapons.

"Putin and I once said in St. Petersburg that we would adjust the Belarusian 'Su' planes so that they could carry nuclear weapons. Do you think we were just chattering? Everything is ready," local media quoted the Belarusian dictator as saying.

In mid-July, during the conversation between Putin and Lukashenko, they agreed to modernize the aircraft available to Belarus to carry tactical nuclear weapons. And although this conversation seemed like a nonsense chat between two senile dictators who are already under 70 years old, because they got the names of the planes wrong and agreed to modernize the Su-25 attack aircraft, most likely it became a reality.

And although this time Lukashenko allegedly made a more general statement about the Su-type aircraft, some media report that the dictator spoke about the Su-24 bomber as the carrier, which Minsk does not have in service. Therefore, most likely, we are talking about the modernization of the Su-30SM, which are available to the Belarusian Air Force in the quantity of four units.

After that, we cannot help but only recall that a few weeks ago, on August 3, during the conference on the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons at the UN, official Minsk announced the following:

"All insinuations about the change of the non-nuclear status of Belarus, as well as non-compliance with commitments under the NPT, are groundless," said Vasily Pavlov, Vasily Pavlov, Head of the Division of International Security of the Directorate General for Multilateral Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

Also, as previously reported, belarus is also about to receive "Iskander" operational-tactical missile systems from the russian federation, which can be equipped with a nuclear warhead.

As a reminder, in the 90s, Belarus, just like Ukraine and Kazakhstan, voluntarily renounced its nuclear status. Then, at the beginning of 2022, Minsk held a "referendum" as a result of which, according to the version of the document on the website of the President of Belarus, the line where the country "aims to make its territory a nuclear-weapons-free zone and the state itself neutral" was excluded from Article 18.

That is, in order to return the nuclear status to belarus, one has only to officially announce the receipt of nuclear weapons directly from the russian federation. If it hasn't been done at all, because a little more than a month has passed from the "idea" to adapt aircraft for tactical nuclear weapons to the announcement it has been successfully done.

If this tempo keeps further, possibly we should expect such a statement from Minsk in the near future under the bravura music of the military orchestra, perhaps as soon as the Iskander complexes are received from russia. Just for the sake of making a confident step towards the abyss of World War 3, in which case these four Su-30SM and several missiles with tactical nuclear warheads won’t make a difference anymore.
