According to the Military Balance reference book on tank availability in the Brazilian military, the situation is as follows this is almost three hundred Leopard 1s in A1BE and A5BR modifications, as well as 31 M60 tanks, while how many of these vehicles are in storage is not reported.
And it's worth noting that back in September 2023, Brazil officially and indefinitely postponed plans to modernize its existing Leopard 1 tanks due to high demand for spare parts. And not least because dozens of Leopard 1 tanks are in service with Ukraine's Defense Forces.
And if were already mentioning Ukraine, in December 2020 it became known that we are ready to participate in the modernization of Brazilian Leopard 1s, however, the project was never implemented.
Defense Express previously reported that John Cockerill Defense showed a new M60 modification, thanks to which these tanks can still be relevant today.
