It is not known exactly how many long-range strike drones were used, but it is noted that the drones targeted installations used for primary cooling of raw coke gas. "Work at the enterprise will not resume for a long time," Army_TV channel noted.
Novolypetsk Metallurgical Plant is located approximately 270 km from the border with Ukraine, so this target is achievable for various types of long-range strike drones that are in service with the Defense Forces of Ukraine. This plant is one of the largest ferrous metallurgy enterprises in the russian federation.
The so-called "Ministry of Defense" of the russian federation reacted to the attack by Ukrainian drones in the traditional style, declaring that several unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down over the territories of a number of russian regions, including Lipetsk.
At the same time, the governor of the Lipetsk region, Ihor Artamonov, announced that there was a fire in one of the workshops of the Novolypetsk metallurgical plant, and that the cause could be "the fall of an aircraft." A little later, he actually duplicated information from the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation about the downing of two drones over the territory of the region. At the same time, the footage of the flight over the object on the territory of NMP is clearly visible on the released videos.
Since 2024, Ukrainian attack drones have been carrying out regular strikes on objects on the territory of the russian federation, first of all, a series of strikes were carried out on a number of oil refineries, and as of the beginning of February, there were already billions of losses as a result of effective hits by Ukrainian UAVs.
