The scale of the fire at russia's Zagorsk Optical and Mechanical Plant of the Schwabe Holding near Moscow allows to speak of significant damage to the enterprise

Another plant, which is part of the structure of the russian military-industrial complex caught fire. This time it’s the Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant, which is located near Moscow in the city of Sergiev Posad.

The company is part of the holding company Schwabe, which is responsible for the production of sights, thermal imagers, laser rangefinders and other similar products.

Local media, citing the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the russian federation, report that the fire is raging on the roof of the production plant. Its area is over 500 square meters, 58 people and 17 units of equipment were involved in its extinguishing. But extinguishing is complicated by design features and flammable insulation. The causes of the fire in Russia promised to report later.

At the same time, very little information is known about the Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant's military products. There are mentions of night sights PNO-17 and PT-9-01, as well as other products that can be supplied to both the military and the civilian market. It is also known that the company has its own design department, which is responsible for conducting a number of research and development work.

Defense Express’s notes:

Despite Russia outgunning Ukraine in military equipment and personnel, Ukrainian defenders have managed to win battles in Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions and continue to bravely hold the line in Donbas. However, the situation there is very difficult.

To defend itself and gain its territories back, Ukraine urgently needs multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and more 155-mm artillery systems.

Russia tries to influence the West and disrupt military aid to Ukraine. The West should not concede to Russia on this matter, because doing so would worsen and escalate the situation, not the other way round.
