More and more footage appears on social networks that the russians have begun to use donkeys and horses to deliver cargo to the frontline.
This trend causes a rather sharp emotional reaction among the occupiers themselves. At the same time, different assessments may arise in the Ukrainian information space, for example, that in this way the russian invaders began to compensate for the shortage of armored vehicles and transport that were destroyed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. But, in fact, the matter is somewhat more complicated here.

If we take data from open sources, then by February 2022, at least two units of the russian army officially had pack transport at their disposal:
- the 55th motorized rifle brigade from the 41st combined arms army of the Central Military District, as well as
- the 34th separate motorized rifle mountain brigade from the Southern Military District.
In the case of the above-mentioned 55th motorized rifle brigade, we are talking about the presence of pack horses of the Mongolian breed. In turn, in the case of the 34th motorized rifle mountain brigade, we are talking about pack horses of the Karachay breed. In both cases, we are talking about specific "means of transport" that are formally intended for logistical tasks in mountainous terrain.
Interestingly, the russians "seriously" practiced the use of such "pack transport" during various types of exercises. At the same time, russian propagandists also claim that even the Ryazan Airborne Troops School supposedly has its own fleet of horses for combat training tasks.

In some articles that can be found in the open access, you can find information that the russian occupiers are suffering – the activity of Ukrainian UAVs in the frontline zone is so high that it has created a "gray zone" several kilometers deep from the line of contact, where no transport can safely pass, which is why the russians have to use their own personnel as "pack transport".
Against this background, the decision to use horses and donkeys for the enemy may seem rational in its own way. However, the question is how long this practice can be.
As Defense Express reported, earlier russian occupiers returned to old assault tactics using motorcycles and quad bikes.
