The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported that russia has involved over 12,000 troops from North Korean forces in its combat operations, particularly in Kursk region. This move signals a deepening military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang and introduces a new dimension to the ongoing war against Ukraine.
Losses among the North Korean contingent have been severe. Since their deployment, around 4,000 personnel have been taken out of action, with over 3,000 wounded. Out of four brigades reportedly involved, one has been effectively destroyed, and the remaining three have lost their combat effectiveness. These figures not only underscore the brutal intensity of fighting but also raise serious questions about russia’s growing reliance on foreign forces to sustain its military campaign.

As Defense Express previously reported, military train loaded with North Korean Koksan self-propelled guns (SPGs) was recently spotted at a railway station in the northern part of Crimea, according to Crimean Wind. The train, which carried 7-8 SPGs along with military transport trucks, underscores the continued mobilization and logistical efforts related to these artillery systems.
The images captured during the sighting not only revealed the M1989 Koksan 170 mm SPGs, already known for their battlefield presence, but also likely showcased a transport and loading vehicle associated with the M1991 240 mm MLRS, according to the Vodohrai magazine.
