The Armed Forces of Ukraine can count on reinforcements with Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (SPAAG) systems, which are already actively used and have proven their high effectiveness in the fight against russia’s drones and cruise missiles. But if earlier the source of these SPAAG systems was Germany, now the USA has joined it.
In particular, the Pentagon's May 31 contracting report announced the signing of an agreement with the American company Global Military Products Inc, which is to supply an undisclosed amount of Gepard SPAAG for $118.37 million. The deadline for the contract is May 30, 2024.

Other important details of the contract include that it will be performed in Jordan and that the money is allocated under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) program.
It should be noted that 60 Gepards are currently in service in Jordan, which were purchased from the Netherlands in 2013 for the ridiculous price of 21 million euros at that time. At the same time, in addition to vehicles, this amount included 350 thousand ammunition, spare parts and five Armoured recovery vehicle based on the Leopard 1 chassis. To be as precise as possible, we are talking about the Cheetah PRTL - the Dutch version of German Flakpanzer Gepard. The main difference of this vehicles is a different radar, which in this version is manufactured by Philips, although the target detection range remained unchanged - 15 km.

For comparison: the cost of one Gepard - Cheetah PRTL under the 2013 contract was 350,000 euros. And now the cost of an even more used vehicle to be at least 1.96 million dollars, if we are talking about the purchase of all 60 units.
