Plans are underway in the United States to replace each Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle transferred to Ukraine with an upgraded version of such equipment, which will be equipped with active protection systems, as outlined by the Program Executive Office Ground Combat Systems. It concerns the replacement of vehicles that were allocated as part of the defense assistance.
It is noted that this modification represents the most protected version of the Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle. In particular, the vehicle has received the Iron Fist active protection system.

The system is engineered to shield vehicles from anti-tank missiles and rocket-propelled grenades by detecting potential threats with radars and subsequently neutralizing the missiles aimed at the vehicle. Additionally, the M2A4E1 Bradley features an enhanced gunner's sight, a climate control system for the infantry, and so on.
Regarding the active protection system, the integration of Iron Fist has become an important step in the Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle program. Finally, this year, the Pentagon allocated funds to equip the Bradley IFVs with Iron Fist Light Decoupled active protection systems from the Israeli company Elbit Systems.
The exact number of vehicles to receive this system has not been disclosed, but overall, it was mentioned to be "dozens" of Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles.
