Representatives of the ruling Social Democratic Party (SDP) of Germany, to which Chancellor Olaf Scholz belongs in particular, began to give public hints about Berlin's readiness to give Ukraine Taurus long-range cruise missiles under certain conditions. One such condition is that the transfer of long-range missiles from Germany must be synchronized with the USA.
In particular, the spokesperson at the ruling Social Democratic Party faction in the Bundestag, Nils Schmid, in an interview with one of the German publications on August 6, emphasized - "I do not exclude the possibility that in alliance with the Americans we will also supply additional systems, such as Taurus". It is said in the Deutche Welle.

The additional conditions that German politicians are talking about in terms of the transfer of cruise missiles to Ukraine look like this. "Before that, it is necessary to make sure that the Ukrainians themselves can carry out programming on the target, and for this they will not need the military of the Bundeswehr - because then we will come dangerously close to direct intervention in the war," DW quotes Nils Schmidt as saying.
It is interesting that the same publication also quotes the words of Bundestag deputy from SDP Andreas Schwartz, who spoke in favor of the transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine as follows: "The counteroffensive is slipping, Ukraine does not have a significant air force to support it. Therefore, only guided weapons remain - for example, the Taurus cruise missiles, with the help of which the Ukrainian army can overcome the minefields installed by the russians and win back its territory".
The following assumptions can be made from the above. It seems that official Berlin can already prepare the ground for publicly asking the question that the transfer of Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine should be synchronized with the way the USA will transfer ATACMS missiles.
At the same time, German politicians are still at the stage when they are trying to formulate for themselves what exactly the military situation on the battlefield in Ukraine and the situation in the world should look like in order to find potential for a decision on the transfer of long-range missiles to Ukraine.
Moreover, it is interesting that the German opposition formulates the situation regarding the Taurus arsenal at the disposal of the Bundeswehr as follows: the German army has only 150 ready-to-use missiles, but there are 450 missiles in warehouses that can be repaired at MBDA facilities and transferred to Ukraine.
