Varta 2 is the newest versatile armored vehicle, recently presented by the Ukrainian Armor LLC

Presented in early September, at the MSPO-2024 exhibition in Poland, the new Varta 2 wheeled armored combat vehicle from Ukrainian Armor, was a project aiming to replace the belarusian components inside the original Varta with alternatives. The development began in November 2023, and the resulting product was promoted as a multirole platform for a range of payloads.

One of them is the Sich remote-controlled weapon station (RCWS), armed with a 30mm autocannon, operated from inside the armored cabin. A video clip published by Economichna Pravda, in a show episode dedicated to various Ukrainian armored vehicles, showcases the combination of the new vehicle and this turret firing in short bursts at a proving ground. The reporters note that the vehicle is currently undergoing the codification procedure and will be ready for purchase later.

Defense Express reminds that the Varta 2 is based on the Base chassis, the total combat weight together with the weapon station is 14 tons. Powering it is the Cummins ISB 6.7 engine with an output of 360 hp, capable of speeding the vehicle up to 110 km/h.

As the company previously told Defense Express, in order to broaden its combat capabilities, the Varta 2 can be equipped with a set of reconnaissance drones with an autonomous range of 30 km. The drones are integrated with the ICoMWare software and hardware complex, responsible for providing situational awareness and information support to the unit commander.

In the context of this news, we should also mention: the other day, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the codification and acceptance of the Tavria RCWS which can be integrated with armored vehicles and ground robotic platforms alike.

Earlier this March, Ukrainian Armor showed tests of its Novator 2 armored car with this weapon station, equipped with a 14.5mm KPVT machine gun. With this RCWS, the vehicle can also fire while moving. The electro-optical sensor module allows the gunner to destroy targets day and night at a distance of more than 5 km.
