The K-2 unit eliminates russian BM-21 Grad system moments before launch. Intercepted communications suggest it was loaded with chemical munitions

Ukrainian K-2 uint has released footage showing the destruction of russian BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system that was allegedly loaded with chemical munitions. The system was preparing for a launch when it was successfully targeted and destroyed by Ukrainian forces.

The strike reportedly took place during a phase of heightened russian artillery activity. According to the unit, the Grad system was not yet operational but was in the final stages of launch preparation. This suggests the strike may have disrupted a potentially large-scale attack.

What makes the incident particularly notable is the intercepted russian communication following the destruction of the vehicle. In the audio, russian soldiers can be heard warning each other to take cover and put on gas masks, referring to the destroyed Grad as being "loaded with chemicals".

There has been no verification of the presence of chemical munitions at the site, but the Ukrainian military is treating the intercepted communication seriously. If confirmed, this would constitute a serious violation of international law, including the Chemical Weapons Convention, to which russia is formally a party.

The BM-21 Grad system is a Soviet-era multiple launch rocket system capable of firing 40 unguided 122 mm rockets in under a minute. While it is typically used for high-explosive conventional warheads, modified or non-conventional payloads are not unprecedented in past conflicts involving russian forces.

Ukrainian forces continue to monitor potential uses of prohibited weaponry by russian troops. While this is not the first allegation involving suspected chemical agents, clear evidence remains limited.

As Defense Express previously reported, Ukrainian National Guard's Rubizh Rapid Response Brigade reports a third consecutive week of chemical weapons deployment by russian troops targeting defensive positions near Siversk. These munitions, dispersing toxic agents swiftly into trenches and low-lying terrain, have reportedly inflicted serious casualties on Ukrainian defenders.
