Ukrainian special operations forces continue to demonstrate remarkable effectiveness on the battlefield, particularly in the contested Kupiansk direction. A recent operation by the Khymera unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, showcases the strength, coordination, and precision of Ukraine’s elite fighters in active combat.
Supported by fellow Ukrainian formations, namely the Aratta and Siberian Battalion units, the Khymera team successfully held a broad section of the frontline. Their actions not only prevented enemy advances but also helped stabilize the local defensive posture, a critical achievement in a region of high strategic pressure.

Footage from the operation reveals the complexity and intensity of the mission. Key stages include the coordination at the command post, a direct assault on enemy positions, medical evacuation of the wounded, and the deployment of drone teams and fire support elements. The use of modern battlefield tools, such as UAVs, underscores the integration of intelligence and technology in Ukrainian operations.
In direct combat, the Khymera fighters inflicted heavy losses on russian forces. More than 30 enemy troops were killed, including at least 15 in close-range firefights. Over 40 more russian soldiers were wounded during the engagement, while two were taken prisoner, a valuable source of tactical intelligence.
The operation was also devastating for russian field infrastructure. Ukrainian special forces destroyed over 40 enemy fortifications and engineering structures. These targets included dugouts, firing positions, and potentially command or logistics nodes, contributing to the broader disruption of enemy operations in the Kupiansk area.
The mission highlights the professionalism and effectiveness of Ukraine’s special forces, particularly in joint operations. Seamless cooperation between elite units not only maximizes combat effectiveness but also allows for flexible responses in rapidly changing battlefield conditions.
