In October 2024, it became known that Croatia plans to transfer 30 M-84 tanks and 30 M-80A infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine as part of a circular exchange with Germany. While the Ukrainian forces had previously used M-80A infantry fighting vehicles, they had never dealt with M-84 tanks
Three months have passed, and the question of how the transfer of M-84 tanks from Croatia to the Armed Forces of Ukraine is progressing has become increasingly relevant. In this case, we will refer to the publication by Defence24.

The authors of this Polish source refer to videos that appeared on Croatian social media in December 2024. These videos show the alleged process of delivering M-84 tanks to Germany.
They assume that these tanks may be in transit to Ukraine. However, it remains unclear whether Croatia has carried out repairs to these M-84 tanks or whether such work will have to be done at the facilities of other countries.
In addition, the question remains as to whether Croatia chose the basic M-84 version or the M-84A4 Snaiper variant, modernized with the involvement of the Croatian defense industry. There is also the question of when these tanks will arrive in Ukraine and join its army.
We have previously described the peculiarities of the Yugoslav-made M-84 tanks, but we will briefly recap the main points: these tanks can be called a copy of the Soviet T-72M1, which differs from the original by the higher quality of the vehicle and its electronics.
It is important to note that the M-84 production cycle was largely dependent on enterprises located in Croatia.

Earlier, Defense Express reported on a significant amount of assistance from Croatia, including 40 D-30 howitzers and two An-32Bs.
