Two Ukrainian special forces operators, codenamed Val and Kremniі, recently recounted their harrowing experience of fighting off a 30-hour russian offensive near Kupіansk in October. The battle, which took place under intense russian fire, tested their courage, determination, and resilience to the extreme.
Kremniі vividly recalled the overwhelming presence of the enemy, stating, “There were a lot of enemies. We were all in the trenches, soaked for several days, and that was probably one of the biggest challenges”. Despite the dire conditions, the special forces operators remained steadfast and prepared for the inevitable confrontation.

As russian forces launched their attack, Val’s position found itself encircled. With unwavering resolve, he and his comrades engaged in a fierce battle that lasted for the next 30 hours. During the intense exchange of fire, Kremniі employed a Carl Gustaf grenade launcher to neutralize a russian tank, while Val skillfully destroyed a russian armored vehicle.
Val recounted a particularly perilous moment when he spotted russian equipment approaching their position. With only three seconds to react before the enemy could reload, he made a split-second decision to climb onto the firing platform. There, he confronted a menacing DShK heavy machine gun, a formidable weapon known for its destructive power. With a calculated shot, Val managed to silence the machine gun, ensuring their safety.
Kremniі emphasized the significance of preparation and psychological resilience in the face of such adversity, stating, “When a critical situation arises, all of your skills are reduced to the minimum – to what you do on reflex”. The ability to adapt and react instinctively under intense pressure is a hallmark of elite special forces operators.
