In a significant escalation on the night of November 13, 2024, russian forces launched an extensive air attack on Ukraine, deploying a variety of missiles, guided bombs, and drones. Beginning at 3:00 pm on November 12, Ukrainian radar units detected a total of 96 aerial threats, which included a range of attack systems aimed at multiple regions across the country.

- 2 S-300 surface-to-air missiles launched from Kursk, russia, targeting Sumy region;
- 2 Kh-101 cruise missiles launched from the Tu-95MS strategic bombers over the Caspian Sea;
- 2 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles launched from Voronezh region;
- 90 attack drones of the Shahed type, along with drones of unknown types, launched from Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Oryol, russia.

In response, Ukrainian air defense units, fighter jets, electronic warfare units, and mobile firing teams engaged the incoming threats. By 10:00 am, the Ukrainian Air Force had successfully neutralized two Kh-101 cruise missiles, two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, and 37 drones over the regions of Kyiv, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Cherkasy, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, and Kirovohrad.
Of the 90 drones launched, 47 were lost from radar in various Ukrainian regions, while two returned toward Belarus and russia. Two drones remained airborne as of the latest reports, with combat operations still ongoing. This coordinated defense effort highlights Ukraine’s continued resilience and determination to shield its airspace amidst ongoing hostilities.
