Ukrainian drones attacked russian oil platforms in the Caspian Sea for the first time, halting the operation of more than 20 boreholes and causing significant losses to the russian oil industry

According to sources in the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), the first strike on a russian oil platform in the Caspian Sea has been carried out.

As a result of the attack, operations at more than 20 boreholes were halted. The target was the Filanovsky oil platform, which belongs to the Lukoil oil company.

The platform is located more than 1,150 km from Ukraine and approximately 220 km south of russia's Astrakhan region.

According to the sources, at least four drones carried out the strike. It marks the first time Ukrainian forces have targeted russian oil infrastructure in the Caspian Sea.

The fields located in this area contain approximately 129 million tons of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas. By 2021, Lukoil had already extracted 30 million tons from this site, adding about 6 million more each year.

The halting of some of these facilities could deal a significant blow to russia's energy sector.

Earlier Defense Express reported that russian An-26 aircraft had been eliminated in drone strike in temporarily occupied Crimea.
